Surrey Heath Tree Wardens aim to provide education on the benefits of conservation and the protection of the environment. We do this through talks and presentations to Schools, Community Groups and Public Events. As part of this strategy, we have rolled out our Education Programme to all state Infant and Junior schools in Surrey Heath involving Heads, Governors, Teachers and Eco Champions. The programme will ensure that Surrey Heath’s children are able to understand the value of trees to the entire community.
SHTW provided four new apple trees to extend the small orchard at Holy Trinity CoE Primary School, West End. These were cared for by Yvette, the local tree warden during the Summer. Our thanks go to David Elliott for providing transport of the trees and to Hilliers’ Garden Centre in Sunningdale for sponsoring one of the trees. Planting took place on 15th September with several members of the community and Deputy Head Liz Ambrose. Social distances were observed of course!
In the Autumn, we plan to have a working party at Holy Trinity School to plant nearly 200 saplings obtained though The Woodlands Trust – (2 x Small Hedge (60 saplings), Medium Wild Wood (105 saplings).
