In light of the Prime Minister’s recent announcement to eradicate the UK’s net contribution to Climate Change by 2050, Surrey County Council has officially declared a Climate Emergency. The results from a full council meeting held on Tuesday, 9th July, can be summated into the three following points.

  1. Committing actions to support both businesses and local authorities in their efforts to combat Climate Change.
  2. Recognising the importance and value of trees in slowing the pace of Climate Change and providing vital habitats for wildlife
  3. Managing verges for wildlife in order to increase biodiversity and effectively communicate to local residents the importance of road verges for wildlife habitats.
