In light of the Prime Minister’s recent announcement to eradicate the UK’s net contribution to Climate Change by 2050, Surrey County Council has officially declared a Climate Emergency. The results from a full council meeting held on Tuesday, 9th July, can be summated into the three following points.
- Committing actions to support both businesses and local authorities in their efforts to combat Climate Change.
- Recognising the importance and value of trees in slowing the pace of Climate Change and providing vital habitats for wildlife
- Managing verges for wildlife in order to increase biodiversity and effectively communicate to local residents the importance of road verges for wildlife habitats.
